Gerlinde Jäger has hunted since she was a child and grew up with fallow deer on her doorstep in Hirschdorf. It wasn't until recently that her interest in them grew to an irresistable degree. She has become the local expert on the fallow deer population and their behaviours.
She mostly hunts fallow deer for the venison, as she knows how to harvest and make use of each part of the carcass. She extends this thoroughness to her preparations for the hunt, which involves selecting the right ammunition and placing her shot carefully. Gerlinde now lives with her son Erik in Rathenfeld, on fallow deer land. When not hunting, she focuses on writing. Her content matter is, of course, the fallow deer.
